Stop Trying To Make Educators Feel Bad For Wanting To Leave The School System
If this is your first time hanging out on my side of the internet, I must tell you two things upfront.
#1: I loved being an educator and I love educators.
#2: I’m not going to sugarcoat my experience in the education system.
The truth is the more time I spend away from the system, the more time I have to deeply reflect on just how deep the issues within it have always been. And often some really painful realizations come up for me.
This is why I’m a huge advocate for educators like you having the freedom to choose to change your career path whenever you see fit.
And what I’m particularly excited about is when you decide to chart your own path and start your own business. Unfortunately, I talk to a lot of teachers every week and many of them are exhausted but feel shame around the idea of leaving.
And all of us in the teaching community know why. It’s a societal norm that educators remain in the system until retirement. Even when things are causing you stress and your body is breaking down, you still feel like leaving is not an option.
But I’m here to tell you that it is an option. Watch my video below about why you shouldn’t allow anyone to make you feel bad for wanting to leave the school system.
